A former independent VPS and dedicated hosting business, operated from 2016 through acquisition in 2023. Explore the accounts, billing, provisioning, and support work behind it.
Custom apps and workflow tools, infrastructure, and support workflows
Key focus
Accounts, billing, provisioning, monitoring, and support
What was built
Customer platform, hosting operations, automation workflows, dashboards, and infrastructure management
The project.
KyraHosting was an independent web hosting and VPS business founded in 2016. Founder and lead systems-engineering work covered the technical infrastructure, automation layer, customer operations, and support processes over seven years.
The practical challenge was building a platform customers could sign up for, pay for, use, and get support from without every step becoming manual. KyraHosting was acquired in 2023. This case study documents the former business and the platform work behind its customer operations.

Project Decision Notes
Platform decisions that shaped the build.
Running a production hosting business meant the less-visible operations mattered as much as the public website or dashboard.
Workflow decision
Build the platform around repeatable operations.
The platform needed accounts, billing, provisioning, monitoring, and support to work together.
Business reason: The goal was to reduce manual handling and make customer operations more reliable.
Support decision
Treat support as part of the product.
Hosting is not only servers. Customers need onboarding, help, billing clarity, uptime communication, and a reliable place to manage their service.
Infrastructure decision
Plan for reliability before growth.
Operational systems need boring details handled early: monitoring, backups, documentation, account access, and support workflows.
Scope decisions
The platform had to stay understandable enough to operate every day. The most important work was keeping customer accounts, billing, provisioning, monitoring, and support organized instead of adding extra tools that would make handoff and maintenance harder.
Monitoring and recovery.
For a customer-facing hosting platform, uptime is part of the promise. The platform used monitoring and alerts to catch issues early and keep operations organized.
Site24x7 & UptimeRobot
Real-time performance tracking and uptime monitoring across all services
Custom Dashboards
Comprehensive system visibility for CPU, RAM, disk, and network across all nodes
Recovery Planning
Operational planning for backups, restores, and service recovery steps
Capacity Signals
Trend review to spot resource pressure before it created support confusion
Running the business.
Running KyraHosting required both operational and technical ownership. The work included pricing, customer support, partner relationships, financial planning, and marketing alongside the platform.
Built from a new hosting business into a customer-facing platform over seven years
Developed pricing strategies balancing competitiveness with sustainable margins
Built a customer support system for handling real customer issues at scale
Created partnerships with complementary technology and infrastructure providers
Managed financial planning and resource allocation around infrastructure needs
Exited via acquisition in 2023 with platform operations ready for handoff
Acquisition and Handoff - 2023
KyraHosting was acquired in 2023. This case study is useful because it shows platform ownership, operational documentation, and systems that needed to be understandable beyond the original builder.
What the project demonstrates.
KyraHosting became a working customer platform with organized signups, billing, provisioning, monitoring, support, and handoff processes. Its operation brought together infrastructure maintenance, customer support, and systems that needed to keep working after launch.
